Outreach Opportunities
HAITI EMERGENCY APPEAL
 
The United Church of Christ responded very quickly to the Haitian disaster through the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering, but they have also launched an emergency appeal for additional donations. You can make a donation with a check payable to St. Paul’s. Please mark your envelope “Haiti” and we will send it on to the Wider Church Ministries of the United Church of Christ.
 
We’ve received word from the UCC that Hygiene Kits are now needed. These are the kits we made last year about this same time.            
 
 
 

EMERGENCY FOOD BAG

 We need your help to fill our Emergency Food Bags beginning the first Sunday in Lent – February 21. You can donate all the items at one time or bring a different item on each of the following Sundays:
Feb. 21   Cereal (any kind, any size)  Feb.  28        Powered Milk (any size)
Mar. 7   2 Cans of Vegetables (14 ½ oz or 15 ½ oz each)
Mar. 14        2 Cans of Fruit (14 ½ oz or 15 ½ oz each)  21   Pasta   (16 oz.)  
March 28 CAN of pasta sauce (No Glass!)April 3 Peanut Butter 
April 11 2 small cans Tuna & box of crackers April 18 2 boxes Mac & Cheese

 

Family Choice Needs

Liquid laundry detergent, fabric softener, dish soap, shampoo, all-purpose household cleaner is being collected for Family Service.  Plastic bags and empty water bottles are being collected in Friendship Hall for the Family Choice Pantry.

 

Global Ministries Child Sponsorship

St. Paul's  support a Tibetan Refugee child through the Global Ministries Child Sponsorship Program of the Wider Church Ministries, United Church of Christ. The children have fund-raising projects such as snack sales to help support this program. The children exchange letters. This allows our children to learn about the world through a child's eyes. The next snack sale is Sunday, February 7. Snacks are $1.00 a bag.

 

Special Projects

Special projects include making Personal Hygiene Kits and Cleanup Kits; Emergency Food Bags; clothing and toys for Camp Washington at Christmas;

Crossroad

The "Birthday" offering envelope is designated for CROSSROAD, a not- for-profit treatment facility in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, that helps emotionally troubled youth and their families. Box Tops for Education and Campbell Soup Bar Codes for Education are also collected for CROSSROAD.

 

GED/Able Classes

Since 1983, St. Paul's Church has provided classroom space to people to meet and study for their High School Equivalency Diploma and/or learn to read and prepare for additional education (GED/ABLE classes). These classes are held Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. For more information about these classes contact the Adult Education Office at 513-420-4520.
